About

Our Cottages

Both Larry and Brenda were brought up in Charlottetown. After we got married we ended up living in Cole Harbour, NS. We always spent a lot of time on The Island - we loved the area and our families were all there.

In 1985 after our 4th child was born we felt we really needed a place where we could go to as a family. While we were visiting Larry's family one weekend in May, we discovered our cottage on Seamans Road. It looked similar to what it is now but certainly more rustic! The lady we had purchased it from had already rented it for several weeks that summer and that is basically how we got "into the business."

We put doors going into the bedrooms (used to have curtains there), installed new cupboards, put in a new septic system and did a LOT of landscaping! In 1995, things were looking pretty good at the Spruce, so we decided to build another cottage - the Pine. We hired a contractor but we did all the finish work ourselves - it was a lot of work but we were pleased with the result. Larry designed the cottage.

In 1998 we put 2 additions onto the Spruce - added a 7x15.5 ft area to the living room and a 4x12 ft area to the master bedroom. What a nice difference. We also insulated the cottage at the time and did a few other improvements.

We come from PEI and we love it there. Our children also love going over to The Island and to the cottages. They have a very special meaning to all of us; we hope you will find the warmth and peace there that we do.
